Who we are

Worka (worka.site) is operated by Lynskey Software Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 17337667). Registered office: 4–6 Greatorex Street, London, England, E1 5NF. Lynskey Software Limited is the data controller for personal data processed through Worka. Contact: support@worka.site.

What we collect

• Account details — name, email address, password (stored only as a salted cryptographic hash), and account type (customer or professional).
• Profile information — optional photo, phone number, default address, languages spoken, and (for professionals) trade, bio, and service area.
• Job and quote data — job descriptions, locations, photos you attach, quotes, bookings, and reviews.
• Location — approximate location, only when you grant permission, used to show distances and sort nearby jobs. It is used in your browser or device and is not stored on our servers.
• Payment data — payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card details; we keep records of transactions (amounts, fees, and payout status).
• Technical data — standard server logs (IP address, request times) for security and reliability.

Why we process it

• To run the marketplace — matching customers and professionals, quotes, bookings, and reviews (performance of our contract with you).
• To process payments and pay professionals through Stripe Connect (contract and legal obligations).
• To secure the service and prevent fraud (legitimate interests).
• To send service emails such as password resets (contract). We do not send marketing emails without consent.

Who we share it with

• Stripe — payment processing and professional payouts (Stripe's privacy policy).
• Hosting and email providers — our servers and transactional email are provided by infrastructure suppliers acting as processors on our instructions.
• Other users — information needed for the marketplace to work: your first name, profile photo, rating, languages, and (for professionals) your public profile are visible to other users. Your email, phone, and address are not shown publicly.

We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account (available in Settings), your profile, jobs, quotes, and reviews are permanently removed. Transaction records may be retained where required for tax and accounting law.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict processing, and request portability. Email support@worka.site and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
